Srinagar, Dec 26 (KNO): Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri Tuesday chaired a high level meeting to review the civil and security arrangements for the celebration of forthcoming Republic Day, here. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar; HoD's and representatives from PWD (R&B), KPDCL, School Education, Health Services, PHE, UEED, MED Kashmir; Hospitality & Protocol, Fire & Emergency Services, Academy of Art Culture & Languages, Kashmir; Information department, Floriculture, Regional Transport; J&K Sports Council, Srinagar; Youth Services & Sports, State Motors Garages Kashmir SMC, Srinagar and officers of other departments. DIG BSF Srinagar, SSP Srinagar and officers from CRPF joined the meeting in person. All DCs, DIG CKR and SSPs besides other officers of police, Traffic joined the meeting through videoconferencing. The meeting finalized Bakshi Stadium as the venue of the main function of Republic Day following successful conduct of Independence Day-2023 celebrations, there. Like Independence Day, the general public are invited to participate in the event and free entry will be permitted based on production of ID cards. Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner passed several directions to the concerned officers for smooth conduct of the National event. He stressed on close synergy among the concerned departments while making arrangements. The Div Com directed officers of line departments to play a comprehensive and active role with full responsibilities for the celebration of Republic Day with fervor and gaiety. He issued directions to concerned departments for selection of contingents, cultural programmes, rehearsals and transportation facilities for participants, traffic management, security, refreshment, illumination of Government buildings and other important arrangements for smooth conduct of the event. The meeting finalized 22 band and parade contingents for the function, 14 from Police and security forces, while 08 of NCC and School Children. KPDCL authorities were directed to ensure illumination of main government buildings so that they present a festive look. The PW(R&B) department was asked to make heating arrangements. Div Com also directed an Officer from Cultural Academy to make arrangements of 7 cultural programmes based on patriotism and communal harmony. Also, for the live commentary, Div Com directed concerned officers, police and Radio Kashmir to depute Commentators. Div Com also directed Floriculture departments to make more decorative and creative floral arrangements in addition to the past practice. Besides, he directed the Health department to deploy doctors, paramedical team, ambulance besides first aid team at the venue of Republic Day Celebration. He also directed SMC and MED for making arrangements of snow clearance at the main function venue including parking places, roads leading to the selected venues in case of snowfall. Boarding and lodging, refreshment for the participants was also discussed in the meeting, and concerned were directed to make adequate arrangements for the same. Stressing for water facilities at the venue, the Div Com directed the Officer to ensure adequate drinking water arrangements at the venue. Further, he exhorted upon all concerned officers to ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place well in time for smooth and successful celebration of the Republic Day. Meanwhile, the Div Com later undertook a visit to the Bakshi Stadium (Venue of main function) to review arrangements. He was accompanied by DIG Armed, DC Srinagar, Commissioner SMC, C.Es of R&B, SSP Srinagar and other officers and officials. The Div Com took spot appraisal of all the arrangements and directed all the officers to ensure foolproof arrangements at the venue.
